Choosing fabrics and making rainbows is pure fun for me, so I love any excuse to pull out a fabric swatch card. It’s like sitting down with a candy menu!
I recently refreshed my Art Gallery Pure Solids swatch card. They’ve added lots of lovely colors in the last years. Seeing them in person makes all the difference when it comes to planning a quilt.
This week my order arrived! I chose these particular Art Gallery shades to represent the 19 colors that swirl around in Rainbow Over Head quilt. Aren’t they glorious!
Here is that same rainbow palette floating on a mauvy, old-world pink background. That background color is Sugar Plum, also from Art Gallery. I’m excited to see it in person (below). It’s as pretty as I hoped!
These freshly-arrived fabrics are intended for the Rainbow Over Head quilt that I’ll be sewing during our March sew-along. I’ll also be using scraps, of course! I plan to finish off my throw quilt with that light and airy Laurel Sienna wideback fabric and Ballet Decostitch binding.
I am finding that the Decostitch fabrics work really well with my favorite fabrics and come in colors that complement my go-to palettes. I see more of these in my future! The ballet color is a softer version of Sugar Plum, perfect to create a subtle binding frame.
