I relish cutting into fabric. I have none of that wariness that fabric is “too precious” to use, as I have found that making things makes me even happier than owning beautiful potential. Dreaming, planning, cutting and sewing - it’s all a playful sort of risk-taking that yields such satisfying and practical rewards.
So this rainbow of solids? It’s just a quilt waiting to happen!
These are Ruby + Bee Solids by Windham Fabrics. Their bright, clear shades will serve perfectly for my next project. From left the colors are: Unicorn, Dragonfruit, Capsicum, Hibiscus, Perfect Pink, Peachy Keen, Mandarin, Marigold, Meyer Lemon, Lemonade, Avocado, Pasture, Evergreen, China Blue, Starling, Sky, Provence Blue, Wisteria, Salvia.
If you’ve been following Stitched in Color, then you have seen these in action before, when I sewed the Tulip Fields Diamond Wedge quilt.
But this time I am cutting little squares, not angles. And this time I am pairing the gorgeous array of rainbow hues with low volume scraps of all kinds.
In no time at all, I have cut a rainbow. Now to scatter her lovely hues on my design wall…
I wonder, do you recognize this quilt? The beginning is rough and unconvincing, but I have loads of faith in this rainbow.
I like it so far
Bright colors and happy blocks!
Rachel, i have loved this quilt since you first made it up. Is there any chance to buy the pattern as a stand-alone pattern? it's just wonderfully alive and beautiful. thanks so much for sharing
