Dilly Dilly progress
moving towards a finish
It feels so good back in the creative groove! My energy is flowing, ideas are taking shape and I’m starting to dream about the next project.
Dilly Dilly quilt is nearing a finish. Setting the quarter dresden blocks on point in the background fabric really makes a difference. Now the background colors flow into each other, quietly, peacefully.
Setting these blocks on point was a snap. I guesstimated a background square size of 6”, cut the squares in half on diagonal to create triangles and then joined them to the quarter dresden block like so.
This is my very favorite flower. I love how she gently fades into the surrounding background blues. These lavender blues are stealing my heart lately. They float with such softness and dreamy possibility.
Plus, I love how that favorite flower reaches higher than all the rest, as if to say, “Let’s not be done just yet.”
TODAY’S STITCHED IN COLOR HIGHLIGHT~
Drummer Boy Dresdens
Treat yourself to scrap-friendly and jelly roll-friendly fun. Drummer Boy Dresdens downloadable quilt pattern requires no hand sewing. Templates are included for sewing a 6” finished quarter dresden block. Experience with sewing simple curved seams is a plus; however, this block is very forgiving and thus suitable for your first experience sewing curves!
Now I’m sewing together small sections of the quilt so that I can appliqué the remaining full dresden blocks. Appliquéing after joining allows the flowers to overlap the background seams. Easy peasy.
Oh, I am enjoying this! Maybe especially so because I decided not to write a pattern, but just to be in my process. Resting, feeling, delighting.
It’s going quickly! I think we’ll have a finished quilt soon.

Fancy free. Love the scattered daisies. :))
