Good news, good news! It’s almost Christmas. Today is the last day of school and work for us. After this it’s all sugar cookies, Nutcracker, wrapping presents, Christmas service and time together with family and friends. Yahoo!
And look, I have been sewing Scrap Cabin clusters in Christmas red and green. They are complementary colors, after all.
I even have low volume Christmas-theme scraps!

I listened to Christmas music while sewing these blocks, and thought about Christmases past: Christmases as a child and once newlywed, Christmases with Aria and Liam at our farm in South Carolina, the Christmases that came without family since moving to The Netherlands, and Christmas last year as a divorced woman, with Aria home for the last time.
Yes, Christmas can also be nostalgic. It is a time for missing so dearly the ones who aren’t with us. But now I will try to turn my gaze to this Christmas, to the loved ones who can be together and the memories we will make.
I am looking forward to sewing Scrap Cabin quilts in January! This is my last batch of preemptive blocks. Now I’ll wait until we start sewing as a group and sew-along with you. I can’t wait to see your versions!
Happy Scrappy Christmas!
Merry Christmas and New Years - yes, it's a time of wonder, a lovely season and a time of heartache due to life, loved friends, pets and families that are no longer with us. I think it's important to acknowledge all of this and enjoy what is dear to our hearts.
Merry Christmas to you.
