I love your color/fabric selections! Your quilt will be stunning 😍 You indicated that your fabric samples on the left are Medium - In many instances, I struggle with separating my fabric selection between Medium and Low and Medium and Dark

This is such confirmation that your approach on the second make is well conceived! I love love what you’ve done - especially the birds (deliberate and quirky).

Thanks so much, Ruth. I like that descriptor - deliberate and quirky!

I spent 2 weeks at the holidays with my son in Iowa. We did a lot of birding and walking and cooking and talking. It was fabulous! The light on the prairie is absolutely gorgeous. I’m taking my cue from this experience - ochres, warm browns, rust, greys, dark blue for the waters of lakes and ponds, and a touch of bright color for the many birds we saw.

Sounds SO inspiring!

Rachel, I love the colors you chose!! Such a relaxing feel to these pretties. The bird fabric is so pretty, one of my favorites too.

Lovely! It’s difficult to try something different but so rewarding if we open our mind to it. Hope you have a great 2026..you deserve it.

Ok answered my own dilemma. Going to trawl my boxes for winter colours and see how many I have. Maybe-maybe. Rachel you have encouraged me to think beyond the colours of snow and grey sky. Thank you for challenging me.

Hi Viv. I wouldn't say that you "should" do something more challenging/imaginative than primary palette, but it sounds like you are hankering for the challenge. Way to rise!

Thank you Rachel. I like a challenge.

Is anyone else like me whose delaying making the first cute out of colour uncertainty. I was pretty convinced at the weekend but after seeing Rachel's imaginative 'take 2' Im unsure about my near-primary palette. I feel I should be doing something more challenging/sophisticated/ imaginative. I have selected some fabrics for Patio and keep going back to look at them. Not like me to be indecisive but I wont start till I'm convinced. Maybe my quilting brain is a bit dusty after my layout. Any ideas for a "cure"?

I feel this way too. I have two ideas and am considering doing both instead of picking one. Not sure why I am undecided and know I need too explore it

I admire how you admire and accept your need to explore. Allowing for uncertainty is an important step in creativity.
