The batch of customer quilts, which I get to share with you today, have a clean, modern style. Two are actually very classic patchwork styles, but in these fabrics they would look at home in any modern home. I really enjoyed having each one as a guest in my quilting studio!
HST quilt by Christine
With high contrast, orderly repetition and mostly somber colors, this quilt communicates strength. I have never sewn a simple half square triangle (HST) quilt like this one, but I can absolutely feel the attraction. It’s one of those classic patterns that creates instant drama.
Christine wanted a simple quilting treatment, so I suggested the Distortion pattern. These irregular waves bring an organic touch to the quilt that softens the overall vibe.
The quilting is clean and subtle. The lines are close enough to reinforce each patchwork piece, without making the quilt stiff.
Oversize Plaid by Ils Verhaegen
How’s this for large-scale? In fact, the scale is so large that it doesn’t necessarily strike one as plaid at all. Intriguing! The solid fabrics nicely emphasize the design and the shading where the lines appear to overlap.
There are a wide variety of quilting styles that can suit a clean-lined quilt like this one. I gave Ils a few suggestions, and she let me surprise her with my own pick! I opted for Cubism, which creates large, 6-point stars with rows of lines. I like how this quilting texture adds another level of interest to the quilt.

Double Wedding Ring quilt by Christine
True confession: I’m envious of this quilt. I know that sewing this intricate patchwork took loads of time and patience. And in these colors it’s simply brilliant. I wish it were mine!
I don’t think I’ve ever been quite so head-over-heals for a Double Wedding Ring patchwork quilt. This is the one. I’m smitten!
Thankfully, Christine asked me to custom quilt this lovely thing, so I got to spend a lot of quality time with it, placing each quilting motif just so. And the result is oh-so-satisfying.
I only wish it could stay on my bed! Lucky, lucky someone else. =)
I’d be happy to finish your projects with a beautiful quilting texture too. My services are available to those who live throughout the European region. Please be in touch if you have any questions or start the process off by placing your order. I can’t wait to collaborate on YOUR quilt!
