It took time, months even, to get used to working from my rented studio away from home; but, now I have settled in quite nicely. Traveling to a separate space seems to give me energy. Plus, the lighting is actually pretty great!
But for the first few months of the year, my longarm quilting machine was standing idle. With hardly any customer work, my longarm started feeling like the elephant in the room. After all, if it wasn’t for that gigantic machine, working from home would be an option. Hmm?
I am very thankful that things have picked up this March! Even now my computer-guided longarm is humming over a customer quilt. That also means that I have fun customer quilts to share with you. I hope you enjoy the show!
Tilda Fabrics quilt by Julia P.
Julia made this quilt for her daughter. It’s a simple string quilt design, usually sewn on a paper or muslin base. The fabrics are from Tilda Fabric’s Cotton Beach collection. It’s a colorful, but relaxed palette, as is Tilda’s trademark.
Christine wanted an open quilting treatment, so that the quilt would finish soft, not stiff. From my suggestions, she settled on the Retro Tiles pattern. This quilting pattern is a bit complex, but that shows off nicely on the simple patchwork. Happily, her daughter is pleased!
Solids Sampler by Jose Hoogeveen
Do you like to sew sampler quilts? It’s always fun to sew up different blocks, but it can be a challenge to combine disparate blocks in a way that forms a visual whole. Jose tackled that challenge by opting for an all-solids palette. That and the sashing treatment bring a simplicity to this project that balances out the variety in quilt blocks.
Jose’s choice of simple clamshell quilting, ups the unity factor as well. It’s a simple, repetitive quilting treatment that finishes the quilt quite literally as a whole.
I love it when customers opt for plush quilt backings! Jose tends to use minky fabrics, like this gray. Not only do they make for a soft and warm quilt, but the finished project tends to have an amazing drape!

Tulips quilt by Carla P.
It’s spring in the Netherlands! How about some tulips?
These lovelies are made with Kaffe Fassett fabric. They bloom in a tidy and compact arrangement surrounded by triangle trim that reminds me of garden bed edgings.
Carla chose Curls Allover quilting for this quilt. It’s a special edge-to-edge pattern without a repeat. As such, it has a beautiful, organic quality. It was my pleasure to bring her idea to life.
I’d be happy to finish your projects with a beautiful quilting texture too. My services are available to those who live throughout the European region. Please be in touch if you have any questions or start the process off by placing your order. I can’t wait to collaborate on YOUR quilt!
Loved all the quilting motifs - so appropriate! What color thread did you use for each? It was it invisible thread?
I always enjoy your emails to see your quilts and hear about your lovely adventures in the Netherlands! Your quilts are lovely.
