This year I had a busy spring in the quilting studio. It was so nice to have lots to quilt for customers in the months prior to our move. Thank you for entrusting me with these projects!
Now I am in transition again, but things are going well. My sewing studio is already moved into our new home and my longarm is up and running! By the end of this month we’ll also be living at the new home and everything will be under one roof again. I look forward to that!
Storm at Sea by Christa H.
I love this little quilt made by Christa H. for her nephew. It’s an oversized version of the classic Storm at Sea block.
Christa chose batiks for this quilt, which bring a dreamy, watery vibe.
To emphasize that feeling, she requested Malachite quilting. With this quilting pattern, the meandering waving lines do not cross over each other. Often, such patterns where the quilting lines do not intersect make for the softest finish.

Winter Creek Cloth
1 1/2 yards of quilting cotton scraps for just $7.50?!?! Winter Creek Cloth has just restocked their popular Scrap Bags, which are half pound bags (about 1 1/2 yards fabric). Choose scraps in a colorful array of prints or the neutrals option that includes blacks, whites, grays and creams.
Adventureland by Christa H.
Christa was also ready to finish off a bright, colorful quilt sewn in the Adventureland pattern by Suzie Quilts.
This little quilt would have been nice with many different quilting styles. Christa really wanted something with open, soft quilting, so I suggested Bubbles.
Bubbles is a playful pattern with a soft finish, when quilted large scale.
And the quilt backing is not to be missed.
Mrs. Billing’s Coverlet by Michaela
Here is something totally different! I imagine that Michaela spent quite a long while sewing this intricate bed quilt called Mrs. Billing’s Coverlet.
With a combination of English paper piecing and traditional piecing, this beautiful heirloom quilt is a reproduction of the “Billings Coverlet” (c. 1790) in the collection of The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles.
What a delight to be invited to custom quilt it! Michaela gave me free rein, with the clear stipulation to keep the quilting open and soft. No dense, intricate quilting please!
I so enjoyed finding simple quilting patterns to complement the concentric borders on this medallion style quilt. The swirly corner quilting over the tall diamond border is one of my favorite finds.
Another favorite - the feathers on the outer border. I always love how this particular feather pattern quilts out. It’s perfectly graceful and soft.
Congratulations on such a special finish, Michaela!
I’d be happy to finish your projects with a beautiful quilting texture too. My services are available to those who live throughout the European region. Please be in touch if you have any questions or start the process off by placing your order. I can’t wait to collaborate on YOUR quilt!
Adventureland is GORGEOUS! Love her fabric choices. The link to the scrap bag does not work....
Christa's finishes are excellent. I love both of those she made, perfectly lovely colors and fabrics. Great quilting too Rachel
Michaela's quilt is intense. A lot of time went into that. It would take me 6 years to make a quilt like that, and perhaps need hand surgery afterwards 😂 just kidding.
I do love the simple open quilting you did as well. I do not like tight quilting.
Thank you for sharing these masterpieces.
