My adventures with longarm quilting continue. The summer months in Europe are marked by vacation - everyone seems to be taking 2-3 weeks away, and everyone is used to interruptions in work flow to accommodate these absences.
I am off to Corsica later this week! But first, a quilting studio update to share some of my early summer quilting service projects. Enjoy!
Deco by Isis
Art Deco style seems to be growing in popularity, don’t you think? I really enjoyed receiving this elegant quilt project from long-time customer, Isis of @IsisPluut.
Just stunning! The quilt pattern is called Deco by Lo & Behold Stitchery. The delicate details and careful symmetry of the pattern itself are tastefully interpreted in Elisabeth’s solid palette.
We opted to emphasize the vertical movement of the patchwork with a vertical quilting pattern called Sparkle. It’s simple and elegant, like the quilt itself.
Butterflies by Heike N.
This is such a sweet quilt! Soft tones, graceful butterflies and flowers like freckles characterize this quilt made by Heike Noack-Glascock of @sew_happy_berlin.
The warm gray background may come as a bit of a surprise, but on further reflection one sees how well that darker value grounds the airy vibe of the rest.
Heike opted for a meandering floral quilting pattern. I offered two thread options: a medium gray that blends with the background or a lighter gray that blends better with the butterflies. I was glad when Heike chose the medium gray to prioritize blending with the background color. These decisions can be hard, I know! I often do prefer to blend with the background color so that the eye is not drawn to the quilting more than the patchwork itself.
And the quilt backing is not to be missed. What a fun composition!
Hourglass quilt by Sabine Hofferer
Every time I receive a package from Sabine I am so curious to open it! She uses a lot of Charley Harper fabrics and bright, saturated colors, and all in a free abundance that makes my heart sing.
This is her latest masterpiece! It’s a medley of hourglass blocks set in a frame of larger squares. The patchworks are grouped by color, but not in a color order that I would expect.
I find the quilt perfectly delightful! It’s so free and full of spirit. When I sew patchwork like this it makes me happy and the end result is joyful too.
Sabine wanted a dense quilting treatment so that the quilt becomes quite durable. We went with Fusion, which has a curvy dynamic that matches the energy of the quilt itself.
Such a joy from near and far! You can see more of Sabine’s work at @la_boite_a_couleur and her fabulous Pas de Deux quilt over here.
I’d be happy to finish your projects with a beautiful quilting texture too. My services are available to those who live throughout the European region. Please be in touch if you have any questions or start the process off by placing your order. I can’t wait to collaborate on YOUR quilt!
Lovely quilts, wonderful quilting!
Thanks for sharing, that hour glass quilt from Sabine is delightful… I like the color placement a lot.
