I love it, but lime greens are a favorite of mine and pinks and greens always play well together.

I am a fan of neutral white walls because I can hang anything and it won't clash with the wall color like in a museum.

Hang finished quilts or even yardage everywhere to inspire you. Please give yourself a wide full height working wall in a neutral gray flannel somewhere you can step back to look at it.

Find a sunny spot for the quilter where maybe you can see out and get some beautiful plants that also provide fresh air during the winter months.

You will soon find your rhythm so give yourself some grace, there has been a lot of change in your life this year.

Very good advice, Tina. I do need to give myself time and grace, because as you said there have been lot of changes this year and last. In time, I just may love this space as I have the others.

Rachel, these blocks are super sweet, and I love the caramel centers.

haha what if no one noticed the misplaced magenta? Anyway, this is sweet to see you partly set up in your new place. I know the boxes are glaring at you, perhaps on a rainy drab day you can put on some happy music and sort those out.

I have to admit, I have been very lazy going through the big house and trying to down size.

Fortunately, my oldest daughter assures me she will house any undecideds. I have given her a lot of ribbons and notions, and just a lot of stuff, but she has two crafty girls and lives on a street with crafty kids in Richmond now. So, I feel better than placing sewing things in a charity pile that will probably end up in the trash.

Enjoy your swell new place, and Happy Christmas

I love lime green. I love these scrappy blocks. Keep going Rachel. I've been hand sewing my scraps at night into log cabins--but am not as organized as you are about doing 4 of them in the same color range. I have no idea where my project is going, but I like the "play" and something kind of modern and improv will develop.

Well I like it even though lime green isn’t my favourite colour. This is an exciting time Rachel. You have before you a totally blank canvas and you will add joy and colour. I look forward to seeing the development of this new sewing space.

Thanks, Sue. If I knew that I was staying here for long, I would definitely paint the walls. What's difficult is that this feels like a temporary stop. We shall see what unfolds this year.

I am learning that we can’t know what is coming. Enjoy the moment, make your sewing space the best it can be to fill you with inspiration. Hang beautiful quilts on the walls. Some of the lovely photos you’ve taken over the years of the quilts. A very merry Christmas to you from the Uk. X

Beautiful, beautiful. Bright white walls might be a bit much, personally I'd choose and off white, but once you decorate with quilt hangings etc. it won't be so stark.

Lime is also a warm color, even though it is light. Warm colors come forward, so that helps it work. I love it! Do you see a difference in color sensibility and decorating in the Netherlands?

Hmm.. I think that's hard since the USA is so large, with so many different sensibilities, and it ranges here of course as well. Some of my friends have chic, minimalistic decor. One is really earthy with lots of wood, plants and warm colors. Ikea is popular here, as in the States, and so is buying used furnishings. Maybe there is less DIY in home furnishings here? That's possible...

That’s very interesting. Thank you for sharing. It is so interesting how the climate, landscape, and culture influences our spaces, in addition to our preferences, and media’s influence. I love hearing about your life in the Netherlands. I and I appreciate your fun sense of color.
