WEEK 5 GOAL
20 Border blocks + Assembly
Once you get the hang of it, sewing the border blocks is simple enough. And that’s good because you need a lot for a throw size quilt. To finish off the quilt top, you’ll also sew four corner blocks this week.
Those corner blocks look pretty fancy, but you totally got this! You start off by sewing the same elements as a regular border block and then add those elements to a square, just like a quarter log cabin block. Excess fabric is simply trimmed away as you go.
I do suggest sewing the corner blocks with 1 consistent low volume fabric. It looks sharper that way. Can you spy my corner block made up of two different low volumes? I’ve decided to accept that “oops”. Adds character, I say.
Now all my blocks are sewn and it’s time to assemble this lady. I’m eager to get her on the longarm asap.
And speaking of longarms, do I have good news for you!

Love your top!
It’s amazing how the border is what makes this quilt beautiful and gives it the finished look those log cabins needed! I really like how it turned out!
