What are your pressing recommendations? Would you show the back of the leaf block?

Yes, I'll show a photo of the back of a block in my next post. I press all my seams open =)

I am pressing all of my seams open, mainly bc it just evens out the corners better.

Hi Rachel! Do you have any tips for sewing up these leaf blocks efficiently/quickly? I'm making so many trips between table, machine and iron that my steps are up but one leaf takes a long time and 15 will be challenging.

Thanks for asking this question. I will be sharing my 15 leaves later this week, which could be a good time to focus on tips for efficiency.

What immediately comes to mind: Sew your HST's first in big batches. Sew your stems also in big batches. Then you can lay out several whole leaves at a time with all the ingredients ready to go. I join my leaf elements in rows without pressing, then I press the rows and sit down again to join them. That means I have to press only one time between laying out the block and finishing it. Since I sew a few leaves at a time, this feels efficient to me. Does that help a little?

yeahhhh, I sew a bunch of hsts mainly bc some of my scraps are only that one half of the 2.5 sq piece. So those are kind of fun to prepare and zip sew. get a bunch done, make a pile, make a pile of the 2" I am just focusing on five leaves now so later I can just make a bunch of stems, then start again,. Keeps me from obsessing over perfect color placement, which is an annoying thing I have to constantly restrain myself.
