What a luxury! I too have always had my studio in my home and have never really minded it but now that we're here in the NL, my space has shrunk considerably! I feature artists' studios on my Substack so if you're interested in sharing your studio, let me know, I'd love to feature your beautiful space. So many lovely nooks and crannies!

I am happy to see how well your blog is working out on Substack! I am on Substack to follow writers, and I love getting your sewing posts included in my feed. I was a blogger many years ago and i still miss it from time to time, so I am eyeing Substack! Also, love seeing your new office and so glad your design wall has the nice light.

A lovely space, for sure. However I'm concerned that the indirect light will still fade your fabrics and quilts.

That is kind of you. =) I would rather have everything in the light and enjoy seeing them than preserve my fabrics and quilts. I may regret it someday, in which case I will surely share that new perspective.

Thanks for sharing your studio. It looks so pretty and a lovely space to dream up beautiful pieces. The colours just ‘pop’ with the calm background walls. And that lovely big window to bring in the natural light. Super nice!!

Well, I have to pick up Elora at 2 pm from school every day =) But, yes, it is good to be here.

I'm jealous! Your studio space is just lovely. I especially love how your fabrics are organized.

Rachel the space looks colourful and super organised. Much better than when you arrived. I’m sure it is helping your creative juices. I was thinking about the glass door. I wonder if a poster/thin quilt/pretty fabric just white tacked to the glass may make you a little more comfortable. I’m not good at sitting with my back to open doors or even large open spaces. Sue

It's okay, the door isn't bothering me. But thanks for the ideas in case it does.

The new space looks so efficient. I love the cabinet next to your desk with the different types of wood.

Thanks, Fran. That little drawer system holds all my random notions.

Beautiful space!!

The cabinet with all the drawers in it ……is that from IKEA??

Expand full comment

Do you mean the one beside my desk? That is not from Ikea. The white drawer system by my fabric shelves is from Ikea, though I think that it is discontinued.

Expand full comment

Nope, the white storage system is still available! It's called Kallax.

Beautiful space.

The cabinet you have your scraps in with all the drawers…. is that from IKEA??

Expand full comment

I like this space.

You can focus fully in just a few hours, and "take work home with you" too.

You can plan each visit with tasks to accomplish..... instead of dilly dallying.... like me.

I am hoping when I move to my new house I can make my work space upstairs and also focus more. Then come down stairs with little projects of hand sewing.

This space is going to work out. The vacuuming with be great, you will have to keep your eyes open for stuff that gets on the floor though. Yay, I also think this is a great scheme. What worked when we were younger and multi tasking is different now. Add some music or lately we have been watching live streaming around the world on youtube haha

I hope you enjoy making your studio at your new house, Rosemary!

Oh Rachel, I hope so. I am still downsizing and it is a horrible business after living in a house for 30 years full of memories and treasures AND my parents memories and treasures. Does this make sense? I am giving away some of our "run of the mill, not so precious furnishings" and keeping mom and dad's ricketty furnishings.

I have a few good neighbors that are going to help me. Also, my oldest daughter is going to help.
