Oh my goodness!
I'm in fabric heaven
I love my job! Have I said that lately? Sure, it has its downsides (like weak security and a gigantic machine to house), but it has fantastic upsides. I love being free to follow my creative muse and when the gorgeous fabric arrives, I really can’t believe my luck.
My favorite fabric designer is Anna Maria Parry, who in the last years established her own fabric house, Anna Maria Textiles. I’ve been an Anna Maria fan since day 1 of my stitching journey. In the past 15 years, as I’ve developed as a person and as an artist, I continue to be inspired by her person and creativity.
My fabric stash is peppered by Anna Maria prints. They mix well with most everything I like, and definitely speak to each other across the years. Recently I asked for some fabrics from her newest collections.
Oh-my-gosh, they’re here!!! I am in Fabric Heaven.
This is a fat quarter set that mixes fabrics from a variety of current collections: Allegory, Overdressed, Check Mates and her daughter’s collection, Yesterday. I chose the Vintage palette, which has softer, more muted colors than the other two options. But it was SO hard to choose! The other two palettes are also amazing.
I will be designing a quilt for these fabrics. Can’t wait! But I’ll have to. This project goes on the schedule for after my March move. Now that will be a good way to reward myself for all the hard work. =)
I also asked for the fat quarter set of Check Mates, a woven collection of checker fabrics. Can I just say that they are perfectly delightful. The fabrics are silky soft. I can’t stop touching them. The color combinations are dreamy and the simpler ones make great basics. I know from years past that Anna’s woven collections end up being awesome, versatile additions to so many projects. So glad I can incorporate these into quilts to come.
Happy sewing ahead!

Quilter Viv is a wordist after my own heart. Somehow, in American English, we started to use 'print' and 'pattern' as synonyms, but of course they are not. A pattern (motif, design) can be woven into a fabric by varying the colors of warp and weft threads, or a pattern can be printed on / applied to an already-woven solid (usually) fabric. Lecture not intended, but words are my passion equally and alongside of colors. So much to love!!!
Colorful fabrics and thanks for sharing. Best of luck with your move - hard work, but you'll be happy to have your own place!
