Quilter Viv is a wordist after my own heart. Somehow, in American English, we started to use 'print' and 'pattern' as synonyms, but of course they are not. A pattern (motif, design) can be woven into a fabric by varying the colors of warp and weft threads, or a pattern can be printed on / applied to an already-woven solid (usually) fabric. Lecture not intended, but words are my passion equally and alongside of colors. So much to love!!!

Jojo so pleased you agree with me. Using the right word adds value to your message by explaining EXACTLY what you want to say... not just "sort of" or "like". An utterly over-used and

mis-used word. I'm quite boring about punctuation and phraseology too. If I had a euro for every time Ive see its for it's and vice-versa I'd ne rich. Rant over. Back to the sewing machine. It never puts a foot wrong. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wow what fabulous fabrics. Her designs are so evolved. Way beyond 'just another batch of prints'. But a point of order... a woven fabric cannot be a 'print'. Sorry I'm an evolved word person. And its one of my missions in life to inform on words that are used not quite correctly. That said youre going to créate something beautiful. I love checks (and cheques) but havent used them much in quilts. But Im getting tempted. Credit card locked away but its shouting 'let me out pleeez'.

Nobody really minds. Its easy to slip up on a 1000 things in the heat/joy of the moment. I was a professional copywriter in my previous life alongside being a corporate banking wally. It always had to be 200% word perfect. Mostly I did fundraising copy and I learned from the American boffins of the time. Such talents. Made every word make your cheque book switch.

I guess the context matters when using words such as “woven fabric”. In the world of garment sewing (Project Runway) a woven fabric refers to cottons, linens, wools etc than are woven - as opposed to knit fabric like T-

shirts. Wovens can have prints on them. I’ve sewn garments my whole life but I am new to quilting. I love your new Anna Maria fabrics!! I just bought a fat quarter bundle myself!!

Colorful fabrics and thanks for sharing. Best of luck with your move - hard work, but you'll be happy to have your own place!

Amazing collections of fabrics but I WANT the fat quarter set of Check Mate. Where oh where can I get them? I’ve looked on both your recommendations but couldn’t find. Let me know if this bundle is a special request order. Thanks so much, again, for all your wonderful information, fabrics and your quilts!
