WEEK 2 GOAL
42 Sashing units
Are you sewing along? If you weren’t sure about your Parsnips quilt before, I predict that this is the moment where it all starts to click.
This week we’re starting on the sashing units. Adding a colorful, star-studded sashing really makes your patchwork sing. I think that you’re going to be thrilled with how it instantly gives your project a pick-me-up so that you like it even more than before!
This is a good time for chain-piecing and audiobooks or your favorite tunes! If you’re making a throw sized quilt, I suggest you sew half of the sashing units - 42 units. That’s a whopping 84 triangle-in-square blocks.
If you are lucky enough to have a design wall, you can fill in the spaces around your Parsnips blocks with sashing units and star center squares. It is quite a transformation.
Yay Parsnips patchwork!
SHARE TO WIN!
I would really love to see what you are working on! This week share a photo of your Parsnips beginnings on Instagram or Substack chat.
Your photo enters you into a giveaway for my Confetti quilt pattern. This one is for your teensy tiny scraps - the ones you may be left with after sewing Parsnips. Now that’s handy, isn’t it?
Winner will be announced next week and giveaway is open worldwide.
Two ways to enter!
On Instagram, share your photo with hashtag #ParsnipsQuilt.
On Substack, share your photo in the Stitched in Color chat.
I highly recommend the Substack chat. It’s easy for everyone to find your photos there since they won’t be lost to the Instagram algorithm. You can enter in one or both methods.
Good luck!
And congratulations to Pam Sadler, winner of last week’s giveaway! Your Parsnips blocks are shining with sunny beauty. I can’t wait to see what happens when you add your sashing!
Parsnips is such a beautiful and unique pattern! I love the Lavender and blue sashing! The first one you made with a green sashing was beautiful too!
Pam’s blocks are sew beautiful too!💛💚 I look forward to seeing what colors she chooses for her sashing and stars!
Thank you, looking forward to using the Confetti pattern in my future…
