Remember this quilt idea? I’m jazzed today to give Crossweave quilt a turn on the design wall.
First, the cutting. I know that some people find cutting patchwork shapes tedious, but I love this part of quilt-making. When I cut, I soak-in the gorgeous prints and simmer with anticipation to see them make magic together.
Yay, magic!
I have started laying out my Crossweaves quilt, working from the dark value center. Or, actually, the off-center, since the dark value fabrics won’t fall smack in the middle of the finished quilt.
Then it’s back to the cutting table to cut medium and light value trapezoid shapes. Isn’t fabric like candy? And it isn’t even bad for you.

Ooooh! These colors, these shapes - how energizing! All of these gorgeous prints are Anna Maria Parry fabrics (with the exception of the yellow), which you can find at Little Fabric Shop.
Well, I can’t wait to take this further. If you’re wondering, Crossweave quilt is sewn together is rows. No y-seams involved, people! Those big, trapezoid shapes are great for showing off fancy prints and the diamonds are so elegant. I think it’s a pretty cool pattern that might be worthy of a sew-along.
What think you?
OOoh, this is amazing! Love the dark color contrast!
I've been hoping this would turn into a pattern and a sew-along...
