Rachel! Your work is absolutely gorgeous. That’s a million dollar quilt! Are you paper-piecing the sashing intersections? And hand sewing them?

Rachel LaBour's avatar

Thanks, Pat! I am not paper piecing the sashing intersections - the ones that I changed color on. Those are traditionally pieced. I am paper piecing the triangle points in the sashing strips. The only hand sewing on this quilt is applique of the Dresden plate flowers.

That is a labor of love… quite breathtaking.

Love the new sashing center. It enhances the crystalline shape of the snowflake.

Please please please tell me you will release this as a pattern 🙏

Sounds like I should =)

This is such an original design and truly lovely. I sure hope you are doing a pattern for it!!

Rachel LaBour's avatar

Thanks so much, Cate. I do plan to develop it as a pattern, though not yet sure what form or timing.

This quilt keeps getting better and better. I love the new sashing design. It is so complimentary to the deco flowers. I can't wait to see it finished!

Beautiful!!! The walls, the floor, the QUILT! TY for sharing your process, Rachel.

Love the dreamy feel of these colors. black (the dark blue) in the sashing gives an anchoring to the space, wonderful adjustment!

Rachel LaBour's avatar

Yay, thanks! It's good to hear that the adjustment makes sense to some others as well =)

It's going to be gorgeous and spectacular! Love the rethinking on the sashing. You've got it now.

Why did you not like the white ‘star’ in the centre?

Rachel LaBour's avatar

I felt that it stood out too much. There are so many tiny white squares, which kind of boggle the eyes. I felt that the white in the star center was visually confusing.

I hope you show us the completed top. The quilt is amazing.

wowie, this is beautiful,... I mean really a masterpiece.

All of the machine? I love it and the wall color and floors too.

Super lovely!!!

Rachel LaBour's avatar

It's all by machine except for hand applique of the Dresden flowers at the Deco Bloom block centers.
